Deerlake Area Included in LA County’s 2026 San Fernando Valley Planning Review

DEER LAKE HIGHLANDS AREA, Los Angeles County — The county’s San Fernando Valley Area Plan includes Deerlake among the unincorporated communities receiving community-specific planning attention.

The county published a public review draft on February 19, 2026. The broader project covers unincorporated places including Deerlake, Twin Lakes, Oat Mountain, West Chatsworth and Kagel Canyon, and examines neighborhood development patterns, environmental resources, roads and public services.

What local property owners can do

County Planning publishes detailed maps for the Oat Mountain and Deerlake area, as well as an interactive address and parcel-number lookup for proposed zoning and land-use adjustments. Residents should check property-specific boundaries and the current approved zoning before assuming any draft recommendation is in effect. A draft is not proof of an adopted change.
